Increased efficiency and compliance of my workouts
Already have a standard dumbbell set + home gym in my basement but wanted adjustable dumbbells to keep around the family room -- they are not only a visual reminder but also convenient to use while watching TV, using the computer etc. Paid $384 for the Bowflex SelectTech 552 Dumbbells on Amazon vs. best sale price $450 at most retail stores. Had some difficulty extracting one of the dumbbells from the base on day one, but since then they have both been easy to remove and replace. Bowflex remains evenly balanced at 15#, 25#, 35# and 45# unlike Stamina Versa-Bell which requires weights to be off-set at those levels. Only negative is that dumbbells are a bit large however their size has not restricted range of motion.

Great Weights, but some Watch Outs
I purchased these Bowflex SelectTech 552 Dumbbells to replace a set of standard dumbbells I had (5 to 30lbs). I wanted to increase my weights up to 50lbs (these go to 52.5lbs), but did not want to have space taken up by an additional 4 pairs of weights (for a total of 12 pairs of weights). So Bowflex SelectTech 552 Dumbbells fit what I was looking for. There are few watch outs with these but they are not product flaws just things I need to get used to after using standard dumbbells. Overall I would recommend these Bowflex SelectTech 552 Dumbbells for anyone looking for quality dumbbells and doesn't want a huge set taking up space.
Pros: The weights take up less space (main reason for purchase) then a full rack of dumbbells, great quality, solid, and easy to use. They work great for P90x workouts (both the original and the P90x+ videos)
Cons: These took a little time to get used to if you normally use standard dumbbells (they are wider and more bulky), they add a little time to my workout because instead of just setting down one set of dumbbell and swapping them for another you have to set the weights down, turn the two dials on each dumbbell, and then pick up the weights--not a show stopper, it just takes time to get used to it.
I also would recommend the Bowflex SelectTech 552 / 1090 Dumbbell Stand which makes it easier to pick-up and set down the weights.
